“As Brock Archer, I apply a variety of software tools to photographs to create completely unique and original images. The attached files were all created from ADDICTED ads–with permission.”
Brock Archer, previously known primarily as a prolific writer of creative gay erotic fiction (https://www.gaydemon.com/stories/authors/brockarcher), has now burst onto the art scene with his truly distinctive approach to digital homoerotic art. Working from photographs, he applies a variety of software and artistic techniques, carefully adjusting variables such as color, texture, lighting and more to produce images ranging from alluring eye candy to tasteful nudes to boldly explicit sexual activity. In his ground-breaking art book, Brock Archer’s Men, published in 2022, he describes the process as one of “calibration, reflection, and re-calibration until I have achieved a result—a new creative work—that is both erotic and aesthetic.”
His digital paintings—described by various reviewers around the world as “stunning,” “amazing,” “refreshing,” “beautiful,” and “timeless”—deliver an energy and excitement that goes far beyond the material he started with.
Archer’s unique and very original style earned him a Certificate of Artistic Merit from the Pinacothèque, sponsor of the internationally prestigious Luxembourg Art Prize, in 2021. His book has also drawn praise from models, fashion designers, art collectors, and fellow artists.
Acclaimed gay artist Michael Breyette explains, “The tools a visual artist uses to connect with the audience are not pastels, brushes, computers, or even the models. As Mr. Archer displays so vibrantly in his work, the tools an artist uses to communicate are form, composition, color, light, shapes, and textures guided by an astute inner eye.”
International fashion model Benjamin Godfre agrees. “We all know that computers can do remarkable things with images these days,” he says, “but they’re just tools. It takes exceptional talent to turn a photograph, even a great one, into a true work of art, and that’s exactly what Brock is, an exceptional artist. He’s phenomenal.”
