When Drummer was relaunched in 2019 his shots were front and center, keeping the magazine’s leather legacy alive while introducing modern audiences to the beauty of kink. With photo series like “Getting Off on the Right Foot” and his depictions of Domination and submission dynamics, Richter has shaped how audiences understand and appreciate BDSM narratives.

But it’s more than just photographs, his work elicits emotion. I felt a shiver run through me when I first saw the series he did in Drummer #221 seeing “Master & Servant” brought to life. Whether it’s a submissive finding solace in bonds under dim light or a leather-clad rebel commanding his space against Berlin’s cold industrial walls, Ulli captures a deep vulnerability mixed with power.
